Find a comfortable position, lying down or sitting back... Let your eyes gently close... Begin by simply noticing the breath as it is... the natural rhythm of air moving in... and out... Now, gently deepen it... Inhale slowly through the nose... and exhale even longer through the mouth... letting go... Pause in the stillness after the exhale... Again, inhale slowly... exhale fully... and rest in the quiet space between breaths... Place a hand softly on your belly... Breathe into that space... feeling your hand rise with the inhale... and fall with the exhale... Let the belly be soft... releasing any holding from the day... Now, let the breath expand into your chest... Feel the ribs widen gently on the inhale... and soften completely on the exhale... With each release, feel a layer of the day's energy begin to settle... Bring your awareness to your shoulders and neck... areas that often carry the weight of tasks and decisions... On your next exhale, imagine a warm, heavy blanket of peace draping over them... softening the muscles... letting them melt away from your ears... releasing the need to carry anything more tonight... Let this softening travel down... through your arms and hands... your spine and back... your hips and legs... all the way to your feet... A gentle wave of release... flowing downward... carrying with it any remnants of Tuesday's momentum... You have done enough for today. As the psalmist wrote, *"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety."* Settle into this deep stillness... Your body supported... your breath calm... your mind quieting... Rest here in this peaceful space, for a few more moments... When you are ready, begin to gently wiggle your fingers and toes... take a fuller breath... and slowly bring your awareness back to the room... Carry this calm with you as you transition into a restful night.
