Find a comfortable position, either lying down or sitting with your back supported... Let your eyes gently close... Begin by simply noticing your natural breath... the air moving in... and moving out... No need to change it... just becoming aware of the gentle rhythm... the anchor of this moment... Now, gently invite the breath to deepen... A slow, smooth inhale through the nose... and a longer, releasing exhale through the mouth... Let go of the day with that out-breath... and pause... in the quiet space before the next breath begins... Inhale slowly... exhale fully... and rest in the pause... Place one hand gently on your belly... Feel it rise softly on your inhale... and fall completely on your exhale... Breathing into this center... releasing any held energy from the start of the week... Letting the belly be soft... Now, let the breath expand into your chest... Feel the ribs widen gently on the inhale... and soften completely on the exhale... Releasing any tightness around the heart... any residue of the day's demands... Allowing the chest to be open and calm... Bring your awareness to your shoulders and neck... areas that often carry the weight of responsibility... On your next exhale, imagine that weight melting away... Let the shoulders drop away from the ears... the neck lengthen and soften... Releasing the "doing" of Monday... inviting in a sense of "being"... Now, let this softening travel down through your entire body... From your shoulders... down your arms to your fingertips... Down your spine... through your hips and legs... all the way to your feet... Feel the whole body becoming heavy... supported... and deeply relaxed... Like a heavy cloak of peace is settling over you... Rest here in this stillness... Your breath is gentle... your body is at ease... There is nothing to plan, nothing to solve... You have done enough for today. As it is written, *"In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength."*... Let this quiet trust fill you now... Whenever you are ready, begin to deepen your breath once more... Gently wiggle your fingers and toes... And when it feels right, slowly open your eyes... Carry this feeling of soft release with you into your rest. Goodnight.
