Letting go of Wednesday’s momentum... Finding stillness in this evening hour... Begin by noticing your natural breath... The simple rhythm of air moving in... and out... No need to change it... just observe its gentle flow... Now, gently deepen your breath... A slow, soft inhale through your nose... A longer, releasing exhale through your mouth... And a quiet pause at the end... Let each exhale carry away the day’s doing... Inhale... exhale... and rest in the pause... Place a hand gently on your belly... Breathe deeply into your hand... feeling your belly rise... And soften as you exhale... releasing any held effort... Let your breath be a gentle wave... washing through you... Now let your breath expand into your chest... Feel your ribs widen softly on the inhale... And relax completely on the exhale... Releasing any tightness around your heart... Bring your awareness to your shoulders and neck... Carrying the midweek weight... the tasks and transitions... On your next exhale, let that weight melt away... Shoulders softening... neck lengthening... Releasing the posture of striving... Now let that softening travel slowly down your body... Through your arms and hands... letting go of holding... Down your spine... each vertebra settling... Through your hips and legs... releasing all standing, all walking... All the way to your feet... surrendering fully into support... Rest here in this deep stillness... The middle of the week now behind you... You have navigated its currents... and now you float in calm waters... As the psalmist wrote, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.”... Carry this peace with you into the night... Gently begin to deepen your breath once more... Wiggling your fingers and toes... When you’re ready, slowly open your eyes... Transitioning gently... into restful sleep...
