Find a comfortable position, lying down or sitting back... Let your eyes gently close... Begin by simply noticing your breath... the natural rhythm of air moving in... and out... No need to change it... just observe the gentle tide of your own being... Now, let’s deepen that rhythm... Inhale slowly through your nose... and exhale even more slowly through your mouth... Let the out-breath be longer... and at the end... a soft pause... Inhale... long exhale... and pause... Good... Place a hand gently on your belly... On your next inhale, let your belly rise into your hand... On the exhale, feel it soften and fall... Breathing into the space of your center... releasing any held energy from the day... Now, let the breath expand into your chest... Feel your ribs widen with the inhale... and soften completely with the exhale... As you release, you might let go of any need to solve tomorrow’s problems tonight... It is Monday, a day of beginnings, and its work is now complete... Bring your attention to your shoulders and neck... Inhale, and gently lift your shoulders toward your ears... Exhale, and let them drop, feeling a wave of release... Let that softening melt down through your arms... your hands... and your fingers... Allow this softening to travel all the way down your body... Releasing your back... your hips... your legs... all the way to your feet and toes... Feel the weight of your entire body being supported... sinking into rest... In this stillness, remember the gentle promise: *"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety."*... Carry this peace with you... When you’re ready, begin to deepen your natural breaths... Gently wiggle your fingers and toes... and slowly open your eyes, transitioning gently into your restful evening.
