Finding stillness on this Lord's Day... a day of rest and remembrance. Let's begin by finding a comfortable position... sitting or lying down... and gently closing your eyes. Start by simply noticing your natural breath... the air flowing in... and flowing out... no need to change it... just becoming aware of its gentle rhythm... the gift of life in each cycle. Now, let's gently deepen the breath... Inhale slowly through your nose... and exhale even more slowly through your mouth... letting the exhale be a little longer... and after the exhale... a brief pause... a moment of quiet surrender... Inhale slowly... exhale longer... and pause... Good. Place a hand gently on your belly... As you breathe in, feel your belly softly rise... as you breathe out, feel it gently fall... Let your breath become soft and deep... releasing any effort from the day... any sense of needing to *do*... and settling into simply *being*... as on this day of rest. Now, let the breath expand into your chest... Feel your ribs gently widen on the inhale... and soften completely on the exhale... With each exhale, feel a layer of mental clutter... the lists and plans... soften and dissolve... leaving space for peace. Bring your awareness to your shoulders and neck... areas that often carry the weight of the week... On your next exhale, imagine that weight melting away... like ice turning to water... your shoulders softening down your back... your neck releasing its gentle grip... "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Now, let this softening travel down through your entire body... Your arms and hands becoming heavy and relaxed... Your spine softening and supported... Your hips, legs, and feet releasing all tension down into the earth... Feel your whole body... from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet... softening, releasing, and settling into a deep state of rest... as you honor this sacred pause. In this final stillness... rest in the quiet... There is nothing to accomplish here... nowhere you need to be... Simply abide in this peace... a reflection of the eternal rest promised for God's people. Whenever you're ready, very gently begin to bring awareness back to the room... feeling the support beneath you... Wiggling your fingers and toes... And when you are ready, you may open your eyes, carrying this sense of sacred rest with you into your evening.
